The Big 3 Grand Slam Fish of Belize.

When to find these fish? All year long the fish are here, yes all year. But, like all fish around the world there are certian times when the fish are more active or the larger migrating fish are in the water.

Tarpon: Resident fish up to 50 pounds or slightly more are here all year long. Their BIG brother, however, migrates here just as most other places in the world. April through September you'll find them in and around Ambergris Caye. Again, like all seasons the arrival and departure times are only a guess at best. Shoulder season may be hit or miss if the big boys are on your list but then who among us find a 50 pound resident tarpon to be disappointing?

Bonefish: Here in abundance all year long and the "Go To" fish among fly fishers when action is needed and the other 2 slam fish are playing hard to get. However, even the many bonefish are especially active during the summer making for some wild days on the flats and lagoons.

Permit: The permit are the most elusive and the tough one to close out the slam. They too like certain conditions to make an active adversary. Late winter/Spring brings the best permit fishing and the most action but again, they are here year round and a good guide can get you the slam when everything is in line.
